Joomla! Version
All products by Yagendoo are developed exclusively for Joomla! 1.5 or later editions.
PHP Version
Minimum requirement PHP5. PHP version 5 or above is the primary development platform of all Yagendoo extensions. If you still use PHP4, this won't be a problem, as your web host usually allows you to update the PHP version to PHP5.
Virtuemart Version
Virtuemart 1.1.3 or a higher version from the 1.1.x series required. Virtuemart Version 1.1.3 or above is the primary development platform of all Yagendoo extensions.
Installing the Virtuemart SEO SEF Links Pro Plug-In is very easy and takes just a few steps. In the following, you lean how to install and implement the Virtuemart SEO SEF Links Pro Plug-In after downloading it.
1. Installing the Virtuemart SEO SEF Links Pro
a) Unzip the package you have downloaded via the download link after the purchase to a local folder on your pc. It contains the plugin package and several files with information.
b) Navigate into your Joomla! backend to the Joomla! installer and select the plugin package you have previously downloaded to your PC and which is now on your pc. Install it using Joomla! installer. If the installation was succesful, you will see the message that the module was successfully installed.
Note: As some servers are not 100% Joomla! compatible, please check the chmod rights of the files and folders. All folders have to be set at a chmod of 755 and all files at a chmod of 644.
2. Setting up the Joomla! Core SEO
a) Open your Joomla! Backend and navigate to the menu item "Site > Configuration". In the first tab, you will now see an area on the right-hand side titled "Search engine optimization (SEO)".
b) Set the following items to "yes":
- Search engine friendly URLs
- Use Apache mod_rewrite
If you want to attach the file ending to the end of your Joomla! installation's URL, also set the third item "Add suffix to URLs" to yes. Joomla! will accordingly add ".html" to the end of the URL.
c) Open the Joomla! file located on your web space with the FTP program of your choice. The main register of your Joomla! installation will now feature (if you have not renamed this before) a file named "htaccess.txt". Rename this to ".htaccess". (Please note the dot in front of the file name.)
d) Ensure that the Joomla! Core SEO is running without problems and that SEF links are contained. In addition, ensure that all pages can be reached without errors.
3. Overview on the Virtuemart SEO SEF Links Pro
You can choose between the Plug-in Parameters and the Advanced Parameters in the parameters of the plug-in.
The Plug-in Parameters offer three settings options. The first one allows you to remove IDs from the URL. As this can have a negative impact on performance, you also still have the option to create a Joomla! menu item for each menu item individually. This will also remove the IDs from the URLs.
The aforementioned parameter for activating and de-activating IDs in the URLs also allows you to activate or de-activate Unicode slugs. The URL will consequently also support Cyrillic, Greek, Arabian and other signs such as umlauts for a better readability of the URLs.
The next parameter is used to force SEF URLs. In this case, an SEO link will always be created. In rare cases, this may lead to misleading links (e.g., a different text in the URLs although the website is displayed correctly).
The Advanced Parameters allow you to assign names for the standard pages such as the shopping card and the profile page. If you want to have these pages translated by Joomfish, you will have to create a menu item for each of these pages.
